Loved the location of the hotel as well as the friendly staff.
Great food and service downstairs, have always loved the location. Didn't realize that we need to book a suite to have morning coffee in the room.
It's all about coffee!
Loved our room's view of English Bay...the comfortable chairs and bed from which to see English Bay. The staff are most hospitable. A great place to stay!!
Close to beach and great access to Stanley Park-enjoyed walking in park.
The character and location of the building, the relative quiet, the sense that you might meet someone interesting.
A faint whiff of being on the anti-smoking bandwagon. I appreciated a bench to sit on.
The situation is excellent, although the hotel itself could do with a face lift. But it has charm which the modern skyscrapers do not have.
Rather miserable staff at reception which is unusual for Canada. Usually the Canadians are so friendly and chatty.
because of bad weather outside we spent some pleasant times in the bar and entertained friends;informal, cosy and good service.
Location and comfort of the room
Slightly faded ,lifts were old and creakey. Evidence of decay around the room
I particularly enjoy the historical aspects of your hotel - this is a big draw for me.
Casual, friendly and cosy, especially the lounge. The location adjacent to beach and Stanley Park is unvbeatable, yet close to neighbourhood on Denman.
Facilities are getting worn.
The ambience and location of this historic hotel plus the friendly staff make this my favourite Vancouver hotel.
I loved the location which is right alongside English Bay. You can walk to Stanley Park and Granville Island. Shops and restaurants are very close by if you want to venture there. Lovely old-fashioned atmosphere in the hotel, very historic building.
The bed was so soft that people with back troubles would have difficulty. The tub was good and long, but with one of those straight uncomfortable backs. Why do manufacturers make those? Why do people accept them?
The room was cosy (not huge) and comfortable. A table in front of the window flanked by 2 chairs was large enough for us both to have our laptops open and a glass of wine beside them (sad reality). The window looked out over English Bay in Vancouver, a fabulous view! Room service was quick; the food was excellent. I found the front desk staff enormously helpful, even solving my computer problems. Cocktails in the bar were refreshing, and the view of the sunset worth a million dollars--at a cost that was half of what was being charged a little further downtown. I walked to the Convention Centre and had an excellent show. Thank you so much Sylvia!
Close to the seawall so a good walking spot. We had an excellent breakfast the night after my stay. Cozy and comfortable hotel.
Close to the water and able to walk Stanley Park.
